Preventing Tickets and Helping with Snow Removal in Redwood Falls

As winter sets in, the City of Redwood Falls is prepared for snow, but we need your help to keep our streets clear and safe for everyone. By following the snow emergency policies, we can ensure that snow removal operations go smoothly and minimize the risk of parking tickets. Here’s what you need to know:

Key Components of the Snow Emergency Policy

There are two main components of the City’s snow emergency policy that residents need to be aware of. The first involves designated Snow Emergency Routes. These are streets marked with signs that prohibit parking anytime snowfall exceeds 2 inches. No notification is provided for these routes, so it’s crucial to pay attention to the posted signs and move vehicles accordingly. These routes will be plowed curb to curb, and vehicles left parked will be ticketed.

The second part of the policy comes into play during a declared snow emergency. When conditions warrant, the city will declare a snow emergency.  The snow emergency notice will state the beginning time and ending time of the snow emergency.  This notice will be broadcast on KLGR Radio, emailed, and posted on social media to ensure the public is aware. During a snow emergency, no parking is allowed on any street during the designated timeframe.

Help Us Help You

When it snows, we all want the streets to be cleared as quickly as possible so we can go about our daily lives without disruption. However, when vehicles are left parked on snow routes, it significantly delays snow removal efforts and increases the risk of unsafe road conditions. This is where we need your cooperation. By adhering to the snow emergency policy, you help ensure that the plows can reach every inch of the street without obstacles.

It may seem like a small inconvenience to move your vehicle, but it can make a huge difference in getting our streets cleared quickly and efficiently. Think of it this way: when you move your car, you’re helping to make the entire city safer for everyone. You’re ensuring that your neighbors, your family, and others in the community can navigate the streets with ease and confidence.

Avoid Tickets and Save Time

We understand the inconvenience that snow emergencies and parking restrictions can cause, but they are vital to the safety and functionality of the city. Tickets and fines are a necessary enforcement tool, but they can be avoided if we all do our part. Be proactive by watching for snow emergency declarations, observing posted no-parking signs on emergency routes, and moving your vehicle promptly when a snow emergency is declared.

Together, we can keep Redwood Falls safe and accessible this winter. Thank you for your cooperation!
