Redwood Valley Elementary Will Be Ready for the First Day of School

One of the biggest questions around town has been, “Is the new school going to be ready for fall?” The answer is yes. As of August 1, the Redwood Valley Elementary School construction is on schedule to welcome students at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

While some work outside the building will continue into September, the school itself will be finished and ready for students, teachers, and staff.

What Will Be Ready for Opening Day?

When students arrive this fall, they will enter a brand-new, modern school designed for learning and growth. The building will be fully operational with completed classrooms, flex spaces, a modern cafeteria and the Early Childhood and Cardinal.

Outside, three playgrounds will be finished, including a new accessible playground for students of all abilities and an early childhood play area. The bus loop, parent drop-off area, parking lots, sidewalks, and outdoor play spaces are all set to be completed before school starts.

The school board approved an upgrade to install sod instead of seed on the new green spaces. This allows these areas to be used a full year earlier. However, these grassy areas will remain fenced off until spring 2026 to give the sod time to take root.

Furniture, Equipment, and Technology Are Moving In

Deliveries of furniture, classroom equipment, and technology began arriving this week. Installation teams are working hard to get every space ready for students. From desks and chairs to smartboards and technology setups, everything is on track to be installed in time.

Confidence from the Construction Team

Kraus-Anderson Construction, the company leading the project, has reassured the district and school board that the building will pass inspections and be approved for use before the first day of school. While construction projects can face unexpected delays, the team remains confident in delivering a completed school on schedule.

A Milestone for the Redwood Falls Community

The new Redwood Valley Elementary School is an investment in our children and the future of our community. It is more than a new building; it represents growth, opportunity, and pride for Redwood Falls.

The countdown to the first day of school is on, and Redwood Valley Elementary School will be ready to welcome its Cardinals home.
