Building the Future: Redwood Valley Elementary School Update

Progress continues on the exciting new Redwood Valley Elementary School project, a cornerstone of our community’s commitment to education and growth. As the construction unfolds, the site is buzzing with activity, and every stage brings us closer to the vision of a state-of-the-art learning facility for our children.

Site Progress

The site is bustling with activity. Crews are hard at work grading the land, installing stormwater systems, and prepping for winter conditions. A new culvert bridge now connects the north and south sides, and underground utilities are coming together to power the next phases of construction.

What’s Happening Inside?

The interior of the school is coming to life with significant progress across all areas:

  • Area A: The framework for future classrooms is taking shape as roof joists and decking are installed. Structural steel detailing is underway, laying the groundwork for durable and modern spaces. Soon, metal framing and sheathing will define the exterior, creating the school’s recognizable silhouette.
  • Area B: The storm shelter is nearing completion, with its solid foundation and precast walls ready to provide safety and peace of mind. This critical feature showcases the school’s commitment to student safety. Next, crews will focus on setting and grouting the precast planking, ensuring this area is ready for the next phase.
  • Areas C, D & E: These sections are buzzing with activity. Structural steel beams and columns have been erected, and underground plumbing and electrical work are complete. Roof joists are in place, and crews are preparing to pour and finish slabs that will form the foundation of hallways, classrooms, and shared spaces. Exterior framing, sheathing, and weatherproofing are up next, bringing us closer to a finished structure.

Keeping Things on Track

The project continues to advance despite occasional weather-related challenges, with only one construction day lost this month and a total of 13 days impacted overall. Safety remains a top priority, with zero lost time due to accidents and 148 days worked without incident.
